Lappeenranta is a green city dedicated to energy-efficiency and sustainable development. Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT) has won international renown for its expertise in energy and environmental technology as well as for its unique Green Campus. The region is home to a significant energy and green technology cluster. Citizens build solar collectors on their rooftops and drink the clean water of Lake Saimaa.
